This song has been in my head loads recently, not helped by the fact it has recently been background music on Eurosport's Tour de France coverage, as well as featuring on the latest O2 advert. Not that I am complaining about it, as it is a tune - and perfect to listen to in the sunshine (when we get it here, of course).
You know how often you find bands on social networks? Well this band found me. After I posted a spotify link to a song by a band that two of the members were previously part of*, this band followed and tweeted me. I wasn't entirely appreciative of their tweeting to me at first (IIt was a bit cryptic, I was in a foul mood, nothing against them and I did apologise to them later), but once I got the chance to I had a listen to their music - and it is pretty good.
At one time, MySpace was where I, like many others would go and discover new music. Nowadays Twitter and Youtube are where I stumble upon the latest stuff. I first found out about the Special Ks when The Hoosiers mentioned them on their Twitter profile. I searched for their music on YouTube and instantly fell in love with it. This is my favourite track from their mini album - "BOA".
My first proper post on my relaunched posterous site is dedicated to Everything Everything. The band's excellent debut album Man Alive (one of my favourite albums of the past year), has been nominated for this year's Mercury Music Prize and in honour of this, I am posting the song that first got me into the band. Note that I am posting the original video version of the song. The new version of the video that went with the re-release is good, but I personally prefer this one as there seems to be more of a story in this video. The band also directed this video themselves, but forget all that for a minute and just enjoy the song.
I should also note that it was extremely cool to see the band trending worldwide on Twitter earlier on today following the announcement, thus baffling all the Beliebers/JLS/Wanted/OneDirection fans who normally make things related to their idols dominate the TT's.
I hadn't been on this here Posterous for a while, so I logged on, looked at what I had posted, decided I didn't like what was on here so deleted all of them.I say didn't like, I just thought that I could do with starting afresh on here, so I have.
You thought I had forgotten about you, didn't you? Well, I almost did (as well as forget the fact that I had a gmail address). I know last time I wrote a blog entry that was similar to this as well. Sorry to neglect you. I guess I have so many blog accounts at the moment that I neglect certain ones at times. It's not like I have a ton of them either - just 4 really. Anyway, enough of that. I will aim to use this more often - and I mean that this time. Tumblr and Wordpress will just have to understand that I am sharing the love between you all. That typepad one I have will get used too, however for what I don't know. Maybe I will use this for my ramblings about music. The Tumblr will get all the random stuff - photos, fangirl moments, videos and shorter, personal ramblings. The wordpress is the main channel for all my witterings and where I take part in the Post A Week Challenge. I guess Typepad will be for any other business. I'll be back soon. In the meantime, here's the video for The Hoosiers' new single Bumpy Ride. Released on the 28th March 2011, it is taken from their new album of the same name which will be released on the 11th April 2011. The album is a souped up version of their recent release The Illusion Of Safety, which as well as the twelve tracks from that album also includes four brand new tracks plus a bonus DVD.
